The above mentioned examples were ‘slightly above-standard’ I would say, but what we feel compelled to remark about was service so unexpected that go beyond the standard’. Upon checking-out on the last day of our stay, we have requested for a space with a good branding opportunity that allow nine cars park, for our group photo. The Concierge staff act in speed in directing the traffic and personally holding an umbrella for the photographer who stand under the hot-burning sun, most of all, a portable stairs to allow us to capture that stunning moment! These were what I call “remarkable service”.

Recently our group of 60+ from as young as 3 year-old to as senior as 75 year-old stayed for two nights at The Haven Resorts Ipoh and we all had a wonderful time at the premises. It wasn’t the infinity pool nor the the captivating scenery or the design or style that influenced me to write this review; but what sets The Haven Resorts apart is its people.

After a long mid-night drive of about 6 hours, the group arrived at Ipoh feeling exhausted. A call to the hotel had allow us for an early check-in, which many hoteliers don’t have the flexibility to offer so.

Qualified staff at each corner of the Hotel not merely greeting you with a welcoming smile but took pride to offer you a help. For example: i) despite the unusual rain in May, the staff prepaid ample of umbrella at the key corners for the convenience of the guests; ii) albeit the slow serving of food at the Cuisines during our sinner on the second night, it was offset by the patience of the staff in taking order from such a big group with all different kind of request; iii) though we felt it was a bit unreasonable for a hotelier that do not allow alcohol consumption at public area but we appreciate the staff who explain this limitation to us in a very sincere and polite manner; iv) the staff, especially those non-locals, speak good English and present with a naturally passionate attitude (which is a rare thing in Malaysia service sector which is today overcrowded with foreign-worker that can’t even understand what a guest is asking) has make us more than feeling welcome and appreciated; v) the key card access to a designated floor only was a huge inconvenience (especially for a huge group like us that often moving around I other floor/suite for the same group member) again this was overcome by the staff that station at the lift lobby that offer round-the-clock service.

The above mentioned examples were ‘slightly above-standard’ I would say, but what we feel compelled to remark about was service so unexpected that go beyond the standard’. The wifi which was not working most of the time is something that the hotel should improve, offering guest smooth connection with the world outside will worth the hotel investment.

The facilities offered by The Haven weren’t consider a luxury or five-star in my travel dictionary, however it is the human connection that sets the tone for a great stay and the main reason for us to feel like going back or to recommend to others.
